What is Millwork?
When building or renovating your home, office, or commercial space, you’ll often hear the word millwork. Seemingly a general term, millwork refers to any type of woodwork that is produced in a mill. Raw lumber is brought to the mill and then transformed into basic pieces: Window casings, baseboards, door frames, and crown molding, to name a few standards, though the possibilities of millwork are truly endless! Cabinetry and flooring are also processed in a mill, but with so many variables and possibilities of their own, they’re usually put in separate categories. All types of wood are processed in the mill, with pine and oak being the most commonly used for generic pieces.
What is Customizable?
Essentially, everything! When choosing millwork for your project, there are several choices to make: What kind of wood would you like to use? What finishes work best with your color scheme? Will you go with the simple and clean look, or choose a more decorative style? Historically, one design was chosen and used throughout the space, but recent trends have shown using a variety of styles to give rooms, offices, and common places a modern and unique feel.
